Custom Storage Solutions to Consider During a Remodel

Remodeling your home is a very exciting time. It is like breathing new life into your living space, but it can also bring with it some stresses. Any type of building requires additional people to be in your home and often problems arise that you did not foresee, but it is still worth it in the end.

For many people, one of the main reasons, they renovated to create more storage space in their home. You don’t need to make large extensions or big remodeling to create more spaces, there are a few creative things you can do to gain more space in your home.

  1. Kitchen first. Kitchens are often the most common space that people renovate, and the main reason for this is people are looking for more space, or at the least much efficient space. A great way to create space in your kitchen is by adding in a kitchen island. This is an easy, cost-effective way to increase the amount of space you have. Not only will it increase your counter space, but will also give you more storage if you add in drawers or shelves. Walk-in pantries are also a great way to use the space in your kitchen to increase shelving and storage.
  2. Get creative in the bathroom. It doesn’t matter how big or small your bathroom is, you can always find ways to maximize space. Add shelving to your cabinets or freestanding to sink for more space. Floating shelves under your sink also add in more storage space and will create an open feel in your bathroom. You can also purchase a bar cart if you have not built-in cabinets, many come with wheels so can be moved around easily. Hanging baskets can also be added to the walls to increase the storage space in your bathroom.
  3. Use your entryway. Entryways are the first thing people see when they walk in, and very often the space is not used efficiently. You can add a few cabbies for storage or even add some floating shelves to store coats, bags, and other items. All the space in the entryway can be used – hang coat racks or storage that can be used to store your umbrellas, keys etc. Built in benching is also great for storing boots and can house hidden storage.
  4. Bedroom storage. During the remodeling of your bedroom, consider to increase your closet space. When you are designing your new closet, focus on customizing it to meet your unique needs. If you have a large shoe collection, focus on making space for that. Another creative idea is to add in a headboard that can double up as storage for books, mementos etc. Bed frames are also great options when it comes to adding storage creatively. If you would like to add a table to your bedroom, consider a fold down table that can be pulled down when you need it.
